The Maruti Fronx has been fully revealed and is on display at Auto Expo 2023.
It’ll be offered in five variants, five colours and three dual-tone options.
Will get a 100PS 1-litre turbo petrol and 90PS 1.2-litre NA petrol engines in India.
Equipped with a nine-inch touchscreen, heads-up display, 360-degree camera and up to six airbags.
Bookings open now, launch expected in the coming weeks.
Having revealed its new Baleno-based SUV, the Fronx, Maruti has opened the order books for the car in India. The subcompact SUV-coupe will be sold through Maruti’s NEXA dealerships and its launch is expected to take place very soon.
We reckon the SUV will be priced from around Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom) and if you’re a petrolhead, there’s good reason to take a look at the Fronx. Read on to find out why.
It’ll be available in Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha variants. There are five base colours on offer: Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red and Splendid Silver. Of these, the brown, red and silver are also offered in a dual-tone colour combination with a contrasting black roof.
In India, the Fronx will be available with two engine options. The Baleno’s 90PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol unit will be the standard engine, paired with a five-speed manual or an AMT.
But, the big highlight is the 1-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine that was last seen under the bonnet of the Baleno RS. The RS variant was discontinued during the switch to BS6, but the engine option has now made a comeback in the Fronx SUV. It makes 100PS and 147Nm and can be paired with either the standard five-speed gearbox or a highway-friendly six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The Maruti Fronx is as well-equipped as the 2022 Baleno and even has a similar dashboard design and layout. It’s equipped with a nine-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with an Arkamys-tuned surround-sound audio system, heads-up display (HUD), connected car tech, wireless phone charger and cruise control.
On the safety front, it gets up to six airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill-hold assist, stability control (ESP), three-point seatbelts for all passengers and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.

The Maruti Fronx SUV is expected to be launched very soon, possibly in the coming weeks. It’ll go up against several rivals in the hotly contested subcompact SUV segment that includes the Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.
